Before You Dive

✔ California Fishing License Required

✔ Only Purple Sea Urchins May Be Removed

✔ Purple Urchins May Be Crushed In Place

✔ There Is No Limit on Purple Urchin Removal at Caspar Cove

✔ Dive Within Your Training and Comfort Level

Recommended Equipment

  • Scuba or freediving gear

  • 7 ml Wetsuit with Gloves, Booties, Hoodie (it’s cold)

  • Collection bag (optional)

  • Welding hammer

  • Surface marker buoy (recommended)

  • Orientation for new participants

  • Community updates

  • Air compressor support (when available)

  • Friendly faces ready to help
