The Eastern Pacific Kelp (EPaK) Congress is a regional gathering dedicated to advancing kelp stewardship, restoration, and conservation across the Eastern Pacific.
EPaK’s mission is to convene kelp advocates from across disciplines and geographies to share research findings, stewardship best practices, and lived experience — while building the human relationships that ultimately sustain long-term kelp recovery efforts. This gathering recognizes that restoring kelp forests requires not only science, but collaboration, creativity, and community.
The Congress brings together:
Scientists and researchers
Kelp restoration practitioners and stewards
Resource managers and policymakers
Indigenous leaders, First Nations, and tribes
Artists, storytellers, and science communicators
Students, educators, and emerging leaders
Industry members and ocean advocates
Through presentations, discussions, and relationship-building, participants will explore shared challenges and opportunities, exchange lessons learned, and strengthen cross-regional collaboration in service of kelp ecosystems.
The 2025 EPaK Congress convenes a diverse consortium of kelp researchers, managers, practitioners, and thought leaders with a shared goal: to advance kelp restoration and conservation efforts across the Eastern Pacific — together.
This event is especially relevant for those engaged in community-led restoration efforts, including projects like Caspar Cove, where science, stewardship, and community action intersect.
