Why it Matters

Kelp forests are the rainforests of the sea.

They provide food and shelter for marine life, protect coastlines, store carbon, and support vibrant coastal communities. When kelp disappears, entire ecosystems are affected.

But when people show up, recovery becomes possible.

At Caspar Cove, we are seeing signs of hope.

Every dive matters.

Every volunteer matters.

Every donation helps.

Your Gift Helps Us

  • Support Monthly Dives

Help us organize and host community dive days that bring volunteers together to remove purple sea urchins and create space for kelp forests to recover.

  • Expand Restoration Opportunities

Support our vision of growing from one community dive per month to multiple events throughout the season, creating more opportunities for people to get involved.

  • Keep Divers in the Water

Help provide air compressor support and tank fills for volunteer divers, making it easier for more people to participate in kelp restoration efforts.

  • Build Our Community of Ocean Stewards

Support volunteer recruitment, coordination, training, and outreach efforts that help connect new divers and ocean advocates with meaningful ways to contribute.

  • Inspire Through Learning

Help fund educational displays, outreach materials, and volunteer-led conversations that connect visitors with the story of kelp forests and how they can help protect them.

  • Share the Recovery Story

Help us document and share the stories, photos, videos, and successes emerging from Caspar Cove so more people can see that restoration is possible.

Help Us Grow the Movement

Right now, the Caspar Cove Project coordinates community dives once a month during the season.

With your support, we can welcome more divers, host more events, expand education efforts, and create more opportunities for people to take meaningful action for the ocean.

Our vision is simple:

More people.

More dives.

Less purple urchins.

More kelp.

  • Absolutely!

The Caspar Cove Project is powered by people who care about the ocean and want to be part of the solution. Whether you're an experienced diver, a first-time volunteer, a student, photographer, educator, or simply someone who loves the coast, there is a place for you here.

Divers can participate in community dive days and purple sea urchin removal efforts, while non-divers can support educational outreach, community events, photography, storytelling, volunteer coordination, and public engagement through our Kelp Desk.

The best way to get involved is to join our newsletter, attend a community dive, participate in our annual webinar, or introduce yourself at an upcoming event.

Restoring kelp forests takes a community.

We'd love for you to be part of it.

  • Yes.

Many members of our community choose to make a donation in honor of someone who inspired their love of the ocean or in memory of a family member, friend, diver, mentor, or ocean advocate whose legacy continues to ripple outward.

Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to celebrate a life, honor a special occasion, or recognize someone whose values align with protecting and restoring our marine ecosystems.

When making your donation, you can indicate whether your gift is:

    • In Honor Of someone living

    • In Memory Of someone who has passed

If desired, we can also acknowledge your tribute gift and notify a designated family member or recipient.

The Caspar Cove Project itself is built on the idea that the people who come before us continue to shape the future through the communities they inspire. A tribute donation is a beautiful way to carry that spirit forward.
